But this isn’t just a story about her it’s a story about her and her 3 siblings! They are 12, 9, 7 and 5 years old. Their dad abandoned them and left them with their mother, which would be okay, but their mother is an alcoholic, who disappears for days at time. She needs real help but has to want it and accept it before she can get better.
On the 9th of January their mother had been gone for 2 days, the children were left alone to find food and water. Their uncle payed them a visit, should be exciting to see your uncle…this was not! He beat the boys black and blue and then took Esther and started to remove her clothing, she fought back with all her might, he began touching her in ways that is never acceptable and she screamed in pain!! A neighbour came over to see what the fighting was all about and the uncle ran, just like a coward would! Their mom arrived home late that night and the children told her what happened, she thankfully reported this all to the police. A community group came to find out about what happened and took her to the hospital to be examined, she is recovering from her injuries, but her mental healing will take a lot more time! The doctor pleaded with them to find a way to have the children removed from their mother’s care.
This unfortunately is not a one off situation and this is exactly why we need Scotty’s Rescue Centre! When the community group reached out to us on Friday, my eyes filled with tears and my gut and my heart wanted to go get the children immediately, but we can’t do that! Until we have the Rescue Centre we can only do so much to help the children. Luckily we are partnered with an amazing children’s home that has agreed to take ALL 4 children on a temporary basis. The hope is that we can convince their mom to get the proper help she needs so she doesn’t lose her children forever, reintegration is always our goal but she needs to work on herself to make this happen!
As of right now the children are safe, loved, getting education, food and shelter everyday, something they have been lacking in their short little lives for a very very long time! AND the uncle is in jail and will never be a part of their lives or anyone’s life for at least 100 years!!
I wish I could say this story has a happy ending but I don’t know that it does…yet!!
Today was a very hard day for me like many days are for me, but removing 4 children from their mother really takes a toll on a person, mentally and physically. Sometimes I just want to give up but I know I can’t because then where would these children be today? Living in an unsafe home and still being abused!
This is exactly why we need Scotty’s Rescue Centre!! To Rescue these children and get them in a safe place we spent over $500 US dollars in one day! If you would like to help us get our Scotty’s built you can help by sharing this post or donating through our website with this link.
